I found a great book that is perfect for children ages 2 to 5, Rufus and Ryan Go to Church!
Rufus and Ryan Go to Church is a new series of inspirational books for preschoolers. The book talks about Rufus, a 4 years old boy explains to his stuffed monkey, Ryan what is happening as they attend church on Sunday morning. The author of this book is Kathleen Long Bostrom. Through out the book, she provides an introduction to an experience that most children are exposed to long before they understand why.
A little bit about Kathleen Long Bostrom, she is a published children’s author in both the Christian and trade markets. She has a Master’s in Christian Education and a Doctorate of Ministry in Preaching, and she has worked in children’s ministry for many years. Kathy and her husband, Greg, have three grown children and live in Illinois.
The book is filled with lots of colors and cute pictures each page by Rebecca Thornburgh. Rebecca began illustrating children’s books full-time in 1996 and today has almost 100 books to her name. Rebecca’s vibrant watercolors have been showcased in previous Ideals titles, including the new edition of The Story of Christmas.
Another reason that make me really like this book, it is a board book so that it is perfect for my daughter. (I don't have to be afraid of her ripping the pages off! lol )
Along with this book, I also got an attached about top ten tips for introducing your child to worship with this book which would like to share it here as well.
- Attend a child-friendly church
- Bring your child to church on a day other than Sunday morning
- Take home a worship bulletin and go through the service at home
- Play "Let's go to church" at home
- Read the Bible and pray at home
- Sit near an aisle or in a place where you can make an exit if needed
- Be prepared with a worship notebook or bag
- Teach basic church etiquette
- Get to know the pastor
- Don't give up!
